Open role
Technical Solutions Engineer
We are hiring a Technical Solutions Engineer to implement workflow automation and internal systems for clients.
This is a mix of implementation, solutioning, scripting, debugging, and product work. You do not need to be a traditional software engineer, but you need to be technical enough to understand business workflows, configure systems, write JavaScript, work with APIs, and debug issues.
The work is practical: understand what the client needs, translate it into a working system, configure the platform, write code where needed, and verify that it works.
Over time, this role should grow into a Forward Deployed Engineer role: someone who can work directly with clients, understand the business problem, design the solution, build or configure the system, and own the deployment end to end.
Responsibilities
- Understand client requirements through calls, notes, examples, data files, and existing workflows.
- Convert requirements into clear implementation plans.
- Configure the platform for client workflows: tables, fields, forms, automations, approvals, reports, dashboards, and user roles.
- Write JavaScript for workflow logic, data transformations, validations, scripts, integrations, and automation.
- Work with APIs, webhooks, databases, CSV/Excel files, and third-party tools.
- Debug customer issues: broken workflows, failed automations, wrong report numbers, bad mappings, permission problems, and data sync failures.
- Build internal tools for diagnosis: traces, health checks, scripts, alerts, runbooks, and support dashboards.
- Document what was built, how it was tested, and what remains open.
- Support product work when needed: bug fixes, small features, internal tools, product automation, and improvements to our finance/workflow products.
- Use AI coding tools where useful, but verify changes before shipping.
Requirements
- 1-4 years of experience in a technical role, or equivalent project experience.
- Comfortable writing and editing JavaScript.
- Comfortable with workflow tools, APIs, automations, scripts, and data.
- Able to understand a business process and convert it into a working system.
- Able to read unfamiliar code and trace a problem across files/services.
- Able to work with logs, APIs, databases, scripts, and tests.
- Good at forming hypotheses and proving or disproving them.
- Willing to work with messy customer data and unclear bug reports.
- Clear written updates: what changed, how it was verified, and what remains open.
Good fit
- Implementation engineer, solutions engineer, product engineer, technical analyst, automation engineer, backend/full-stack engineer, or technical founder.
- Has worked on client-facing implementation or internal tools.
- Has configured systems and also written code when configuration was not enough.
- Has maintained or supported a project after it went live.
- Has debugged issues where the first obvious fix was wrong.
- Uses AI tools but does not blindly trust them.
- Wants to grow into a Forward Deployed Engineer role over time.
Not a fit
- Needs a detailed spec for every task.
- Only wants pure software engineering work with no client/workflow context.
- Only wants frontend work.
- Does not want support/debugging work.
- Ships changes without verification.
- Wants a remote role.
Location
HSR Layout, Bengaluru. This is an onsite role.
Evaluation
Shortlisted candidates will do a scheduled 3-hour practical session in a hosted coding environment.
The task will involve debugging a customer-style issue in a synthetic workflow-automation codebase and building a small diagnostic or automation tool. AI tools are allowed. The session is recorded, including AI prompts, so we can review the debugging process.
